• The target of Newspeak was to reduce on the words and language being used. They wanted to control people's thoughts and mind so that it is easier for them to be more clear and straight forward.  

• The assumption made about the relationship between thought and language is that the lesser the language used, the smaller the thoughts of the people will be.
